1.) California was settled by the Spanish long before the first American wagon trains left for Oregon.?

All were broadly true except 4, 6, and 9. But that will teach you very little unless you have the intellectual curiosity to try to find out why. and under what cirstances these ertions were true or not.. In the case of your first question, the reason that, despite arriving so much earlier, the Spaniards (and after 1822 the Mexicans) did so little to populate and hang on to their possessions north of the present border was that their government accounting was so bad that they convinced themselves that these lands were costing tax payer money whereas in fact, they were quite profitable, i.e. they paid taxes and produced mineral and agricultural wealth way above what it cost the Spanish and then Mexican governments to administer them.
