What's the role of IIS in Database connection pooling?

IIS does the connection pooling for you. The connection pools are set up in IIS. Without IIS running, you wouldn't have that database connection pooling capability (unless you had an IBM iSeries server, which sets up its own connection polls if you use the .NET UDB driver)
